Bluegrass fest returns to village
Bluegrass at the Village will be held Aug. 10 at Ozaukee County Pioneer Village, 4880 County Hwy I, in the Town of Saukville.
Featured groups include Henhouse Prowlers from Chicago, Jake and Mikayla from southern Illinois, Valley Fox from Milwaukee and Cerny and Ogburn from Ozaukee County.
There will be a special tribute to Pickin’ Up Speed, which was instrumental in starting Bluegrass at the village more than two decades ago. The band is retiring.
New features this year include VIP party tents. For $75 people can decorate their own 10-by-20-foot tent, get four free drinks and a rocking chair. Party tent reservations must be made online.
Another new addition will be a Jam with the Pros in the Hashek Barn, Flat-Pickin’ Lessons in the Trading Post, and a Kids Corner with games where they can learn to play the dulcimer.
Families are encouraged to tour the buildings and also hike the trails in the beautiful Hawthorne Hills County Park.
The stage will be under the platform of the historic Cedarburg train station. There are 450 seats in the tent. Other patrons can bring blankets and lawn chairs.
No carry-ins or pets are permitted.
A variety of food and beverages are available to purchase. There will be vendors and a fundraising raffle. Gates open at 10:30 a.m. and music starts at 11 a.m.
Tickets are now on sale and are $12 in advance and can be purchased at https://www.ochs.co.ozaukee.wi.us/. They are $15 at the gate on the day of the event.
