The owners of Big Joe’s Gas and Convenience Store in Fredonia have done it again, donating $3,000 to a local fire department.

Big Joe’s owners Joel and Jena Schneider donated two cents of every gallon of fuel the store sold in September to the Waubeka Fire Department, totaling $1,477.52.

The Schneiders donated an additional $1,522.48 to make it $3,000.

The Schneiders made a similar donation, also totaling $3,000, from August gas sales to the Fredonia Fire Department.

“The Waubeka Fire Department wishes to thank Big Joe’s and the Schneider family for such a generous donation,” said Waubeka Fire Chief Jason Caswell, who urged consumers to shop at local businesses.

“Our small businesses certainly survive on your local community support.”

The Schneiders have said they made the donations because many of the departments’ regular fundraisers have had to be canceled due to the coronavirus.
