Ozaukee High School senior Sydnie Stadler has left her mark on the volleyball program and is exiting with another postseason feather in her cap.

Stadler was selected to the Big East Conference second team for the third time in her career. Last year, she made the first team.

While the season was cut short by the Covid-19 pandemic — contact tracing led to canceling their opening-round division 3 playoff match — Stadler still goes down in history as one of Ozaukee’s top players of all time.

Stadler has the most career kills, aces and digs in the Warriors’ program and finished her career with another stellar campaign. She had 149 kills and 24 aces — both team highs — and was second on the team with 152 digs.

“Sydnie always wanted to have the ball and put it down, and you need a player like that out on the court,” first-year coach Vanessa Depies said.

“She consistently looked to contribute to her team in any way that she could whether that was through offense or defense.”

Cedar Grove-Belgium senior setter Clare Jaworski earned honorable mention.

She had 121 assists for the season and made 61 digs.

Jaworski had a service percentage of 97.2 and was the team’s first server in each match.

“She always got us off to a great start,” coach Sharon Stellwagen said, adding Jaworski also helped get the team back into a match when her rotation came up again in serving.

Jaworski did more than bring physical skill to the Rockets. She and Abby Te Stroete were team captains that helped Stellwagen, an experienced coach in her first year with the Rockets, get acclimated.

“I was new and I would always go to Clare because Clare knew everything. She was kind of the heart and soul of the program,” Stellwagen said.

“Her enthusiasm was very contagious. She’s just a wonderful person both on and off the court. I wish I had at least another year with her.”

The No. 6-seeded Rockets lost in the first round of the Division 2 playoffs at rival No. 3-seeded Oostburg.

Two-time defending Division 3 state champion Howards Grove had the only multiple selections on the first team with four, and added another three on the second team.
