Beightol leads Rocket runners

Cedar Grove-Belgium High School senior Caleb Beightol won one event and finished third in another as the Rockets scored 54 points and finished fourth of 14 teams at the Princeton/Green Lake Indoor Invite last Friday in Ripon.
Beightol won the 60-meter dash in 7.17 seconds and was third in the 200 in 24.6 seconds.
Rocekt sophomore Jamison Velzke was second in the 1,600 in 5 minutes, 11.23 seconds, and sophomore Will Huenink was third in 5:11.37. The 3,200 relay of Michael Kuerschner, Huenink, Abram Brill and Velzke was second in 3:57.12.
Those runners all medaled.
Senior Joseph Carrasquillo was fifth in the 200 in 24.8 seconds, and the 800 relay was fifth in 1:41.93.
Senior David Martinez was sixth in the 400 in 59.39 seconds.
Kewaunee won the meet with 108 points. Wyeauwega-Fremont had 69, and Mayville had 63.5.
The Rocket girls were led by the 3,200 relay team of sophomore Amara Beernink, junior Hadley Heimerman, sophomore Faith Konzak and junior Elise Brill, which took third in 11:32.18 and took home a medal.
Beernink was fifth in the 800 in 2:55.75, and Brill was sixth in 3:01.47.
Freshman Ashleigh McCluskey was fifth in the 3,200 in 14:23, and junior Mallory Arroyo was sixth in 15:18.5.
Konzak was sixth in the 1,600 in 6:24, and junior Alyssa Winter was sixth in 14-9.
The Rockets scored 27 points and finished tied for 10th of 14 teams. Columbus won with 102.1 points, followed by Laconia’s 83.6.
The Rockets were to compete at Sheboygan South on Tuesday, March 21.
