Austin Bares

Austin William Bares of Fredonia died in a snowmobile crash Saturday, Feb. 9, in Forest County. He was 23.

He was born on Sept. 30, 1995, to William Bares and Catherine Tippy Wiedmer at Columbia St. Mary’s Ozaukee Hospital in Mequon.

He graduated in 2014 from Ozaukee High School and in 2016 from Moraine Park Technical College in West Bend where he studied to be a tool and die maker.

He worked at MGS Mold Makers in Germantown as an apprentice tool and die maker.

Mr. Bares loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, trapshooting, archery and snowmobiling, his mother said.

Almost all his free time was spent outdoors with friends, she said.

“He started fishing as a young boy and started hunting as soon as he legally could,” Mrs. Wiedmer said.

“Austin’s last day was spent doing something he loved with people he loved,” she said. “He truly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.”

Mr. Bares is survived by his parents, William (Cathy) Bares and Catherine Tippy Wiedmer; siblings Haily Bares (Ryan Lancour), Bennett Bares, Nathan (Jen) Scharnweber and Dylan Scharnweber; grandparents Leona Bares, Joseph and Patricia Tippy, and Dennis and Joyce Damerow.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Robert Bares.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 16, at Divine Savior Catholic Parish, Holy Cross Chapel. Father Don Zerkel will preside.

Visitation will be from 3:30 to 7 p.m. at the church on Friday, Feb. 15, and from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday at the church.

Memorials to the Random Lake Rod and Gun Club for their Hunt of a Lifetime Fundraiser or another charity are requested.

Eernisse Funeral Home in Port Washington is assisting the family.
