Artistic students recognized for their visions of peace

The Fredonia Lions Club recently recognized the winners of the 2023 Peace Poster Contest, which gives students around the world the opportunity to express their visions of peace through art. Holding their award-winning posters were Ozaukee Middle School students (from left) Renata Reyes, a sixth-grader who won third place; Lilia Steinert, an eighth-grader who won first place; and Saaba Annor, a seventh-grader who won second place. They were flanked by Ryan Hornickel, the Ozaukee middle and high school art teacher who coordinated the contest, and Lions Club member Kathy Shoemaker. Lilia’s poster went on to win second place at the Lions district level. The theme of this year’s contest was Dare to Dream. Photo by Sam Arendt
