The art of blacksmithing brought to life

About eight blacksmiths set up shop at Pioneer Village on July 7 for the third annual Fire Up the Forge, which provides an opportunity for area residents to learn the basics of this craft. Clockwise from top: Blacksmith Eugene Durben held a hot piece of metal while Liam Pottes hammered it and a photographer captured the occasion. Sam Laturi took a piece of metal from a portable forge and bent it. Ruby Schneider, 9, tried her hand at working hot metal with the help of blacksmith George Baldwin.
