Art and an artist from Port’s past

PORT WASHINGTON - When Linda Kellar presented a large painting of the Port lakefront by Cal Peters to the Port Historical Society last week, it raised one quick question — who was Cal Peters?

“We knew nothing of him,” Jackie Oleson, co-manager of the Society’s Resource Center in downtown Port, said. “When Linda called, we were like, ‘Was he from around here?’”

Clarence “Cal” Peters is indeed from Port, born on April 20, 1903, to Emil J. and Mary E. Felts Peters.
