Anniversary: Eugene and Barbara Wengert

The 60th wedding anniversary of Eugene and Barbara Wengert will be celebrated with a family weekend in Bishop, Ga., where the couple now live.
Eugene Wengert and Barbara Buehler were married on Aug. 22, 1964, at Christ the King Church in Port Washington.
It was the day a tornado hit the city, destroying the Buehler family home on Tower Drive and the wedding gifts inside.
A number of the neighbors’ homes were also destroyed, but because the families were at the wedding, no one was hurt.
Mr. Wengert was a professor and extension agent for the University of Wisconsin and Virginia Tech.
His wife was a teacher at Janesville High School and an administrative assistant at Virginia Tech.
The couple have three children, Paul (Denise) of Arlington, Va., Thad (Ana Ramos) of Charlotte, N.C., and Laura (Alan) Wengert Moore of Watkinsville, Ga.
Their grandchildren are Ben Wengert, Kelsey Wengert, Jorge Ramos, Brayan Ramos, Chris Wengert, Arlo Wengert, Alex Moore, Holly Moore and Ethan Moore.
