Angela Tackes

Angela G. Tackes, 90, of Grafton died Sunday, Oct. 13, at Lawlis Family Hospice in Mequon.

She was born in the Town of Port Washington on May 30, 1929, to Frank and Anna Heinz Federmeyer. She was raised on the family farm and attended local schools.  

She married Stanley Tackes of the Town of Belgium on June 9, 1956, at St. Florian Catholic Church in Milwaukee. In 1958, the couple moved to Grafton.

Mrs. Tackes was a homemaker who was active in the Girl Scouts. She worked for Sprague Manufacturing and Tecumseh, now Power Products, in Grafton and was a member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Local 1326.

She traveled around the country, driving and camping along the way with her husband and family. She was loved flowers and gardening and collected angels and decorative plates.   

Mrs. Tackes volunteered with her husband at the St. Ben’s Meal Program in Milwaukee and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Grafton for many years. She became a member of St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Cedarburg in 2009 to hear her grandchildren sing in the choir.

Mr. Tackes died on July 4, 2019.

Mrs. Tackes is survived by her daughters Elizabeth (Timothy) Ryan of Cedarburg, Nancy (Dave Mauer) Neylon of the Town of Saukville and Janice (Jeff) Kuenstler.

She is further survived by grandchildren Zachary Neylon, Angela Ryan, Tyler Ryan, Jon (Katie) Kuenstler and Allen (Krissy) Kuenstler; five great-grandchildren; sister Lucille Sutter of Hartford and sister-in-law Myrtle Tackes of Rockford, Ill.

She was preceded in death by her son Timothy and siblings Marie “Girlie” Olan, Helen VanDeLoo, Elizabeth Clevenger, Julie McKee, and Gertrude, Francis, Joseph, Nicholas, William and Florence Federmeyer.

The Rev. Joel Szydlowsky will celebrate a Mass of Christian burial at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Cedarburg.

Visitation will be at the church Thursday from 11:30 a.m. until the service.

Interment will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Grafton.  

Memorials to Catholic Social Services are suggested.

Poole Funeral Home and Crematory, Port Washington, is handling the arrangements.
