‘Easter Parade’ to be shown at Exploreum
“Easter Parade,” featuring the music of Irving Berlin, will be the Friday night film to be shown at the Port Exploreum on Friday, April 12.
The movie, which was made in 1944, will be shown at 6 p.m.
The romantic comedy stars Fred Astaire and Judy Garland.
It tells the story of the dancing team of Don Hewes and Nadine Hale, which breaks up when she decides to start a career on her own.
Hewes takes the next dancer he meets, Hannah Brown, as a new partner and they are so successful that Florenz Ziegfeld is interested in them.
However, Hewes turns down the offer after learning that Hale dances in the Ziegfeld Follies.
Hewes, who is in love with Brown, decides to keep their relationship strictly business and complications ensue.
Doors to the Exploreum open at 5:30 p.m.
Movie moderator Jennifer Wilke will share her behind-the-scenes knowledge of the film.
Refreshments will be available for purchase.
There is no charge for the movie, but donations will be accepted.
