‘The Little Show’ winners announced

The winners of The Little Show, the Cedarburg Cultural Center’s annual juried exhibit and sale, have been announced.

Mike Zierke of Onalaska received the Best of Show award, which includes $300 and an invitation for a future solo show at the center, for his polychromos pencil and pastel work, “Resting Bull Study.”

Kathleen Irons Sweeney of Cedarburg received the second-place prize of $200 for her fiber artwork, “Across the Lake.”

The third-place award of $100, was given to Alba Cobos of Georgia for her embroidery on canvas artwork, “Magenta.”

Honorable mentions went to Constance Taagen, Jody Reid, Jon McHugh, Miranda Kempf, Tom Kubala, Doug Witz, Bruce Hustad, Karen d’Agneac Mihm and Linda Barbercheck.

The participants and award winners were selected by Theresa Kenney of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

  Kenney is chairman of the Concordia University Wisconsin Ann Arbor’s Visual and Performing Arts Department. She has served on the faculty of the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design, UW-Milwaukee and served as an artist in residence for Milwaukee Public Schools, The School of Urban Planning and Architecture and University School of Milwaukee.

The Little Show, which features 49 Wisconsin artists and 245 original works of art done in a small format, runs through Sunday, Jan. 19.

  The center at W62 N546 Washington Ave. is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and noon to 4 p.m. Sundays.
