The Grafton Parks and Recreation Board is being asked to consider doing what other area communities have done for years — allow dogs in parks.

Village park rules currently prohibit domesticated animals, except seeing-eye dogs, from being in parks.

That’s not to say some people don’t walk their dogs in parks, they just do it in violation of park rules, and Parks and Recreation Director Chad Hoier wants to change that.

It was a little warmer for the indoor hunt at the Neutral Ground martial arts studio in Grafton, where 2-year-old Kali Keech and her mother Katie found plenty of eggs (top left). After almost 20 years under the leadership of Village President Jim Brunnquell, the Village of Grafton has a new leader — Trustee Dan Delorit.

According to unofficial election results, Delorit received 2,574 votes, or 64%, Tuesday while Trustee Lisa Uribe Harbeck received 1,408, or 35% — despite the fact Harbeck withdrew from the race last month due to “unanticipated family obligations” and endorsed Delorit.

Harbeck’s decision came too late for her name to be removed from the ballot.

She said she is supporting Trustee Dan Delorit for the position. She already called to congratulate him, she said.

“We don’t have bad feelings for each other,” Uribe Harbeck said, adding she offered Delorit help “in whatever capacity” he needs.
