Grafton, Port, Ozaukee girls advance PDF Print E-mail

Three of four local girls’ basketball teams advanced in WIAA tournament play by posting wins in first-round games Tuesday night.

Scoring home victories in Division 2 were Grafton, which defeated Young Coggs Prep, 63-14, and Port Washington, which downed Milwaukee Messmer, 58-38.

In semifinal games Thursday, Grafton will host Brown Deer, which defeated Shorewood, 50-27. Port will play at Whitefish Bay, which received a first-round bye.

In Division 3 openers Tuesday, top-seeded Ozaukee rolled past Pardeeville, 59-24, at home while Cedar Grove-Belgium lost on the road to Winnebago Lutheran Academy, 43-39.

On Thursday, Ozaukee will host Random Lake, which eliminated Brookfield Academy, 54-41.

Thursday’s games start at 7 p.m. The winners will advance to regional finals at 1 p.m. Saturday.

The winners of semifinal games involving Grafton and Port will play at Port. If Ozaukee wins, it will play in a final at Sheboygan North.
