Grafton man emerges on top in close fight for City of Seven Hills crown
Dozens of intrepid athletes tackled the elements and a challenging course during the third annual City of Seven Hills Triathlon in Port Washington last Saturday morning.
William Fischer of Grafton emerged as the overall winner of the competition, which included a 2/10ths of a mile swim in Piratesโ Hollow Waterpark, followed by a 12-mile bike ride and 3-mile run on city streets.
Fischer, who was the top finisher among males ages 30 to 39, posted a time of 1 hour, 3 minutes, 52 seconds, including transition periods between events.
Close behind in a three-way fight for the title were runner-up Eagan Norman of Port Washington and third-place finisher Michael Denzien of Fredonia.
Norman, who placed third overall last year, was clocked at 1:04:31. Denzien finished in 1:04:33.
The top female finisher was Sheboygan resident Khara Schelach (1:08:49).
The winning relay was Team Strohl, consisting of Pam Strohl and Nicole Nelson, both of Port Washington. Their collaborative time was 1:17:047.
A total of 47 people participated in this yearโs event, which was organized by the cityโs Parks and Recreation Department.
