Balanced scoring helped the Ozaukee boys’ track and field team secure runner-up honors at the Ram Invitational in Random Lake Monday.
Hunter Hess won the 100-meter dash in 11.6 seconds and was part of two winning relay teams for the Warriors.
Ozaukee also got a first-place finish from Noah Stahl in the high jump (5 feet, 10 inches).
The Warriors scored 74 points, edging third-place Campbellsport, which had 71.
St. Mary’s Springs won the five-team meet with 107 points.
Ozaukee’s Devon Linzenmeyer, Jason Gensrick, Hess and Steve Street joined forces to win two races — the 800 relay (1:38.3) and 400 relay (47.0).
Also placing first was the 1,600 relay team of Dustin Richter, Doug Grimm, Gensrick and Street (3:51.8).
“I was glad to see the boys take home the second-place plaque,” Warriors coach Chris Weavers said.
“We were able to score in almost every event we entered. It was nice to be in a bigger meet with some new competition.”
Placing second for Ozaukee were Linzenmeyer in the long jump (17-1-1/2) and Josh Werner in the high jump (5-4).
The Warriors got third-place finishes from Stahl in the long jump (17-1), Sean Preisler in the 3,200 run (11:40) and Werner in the 300 hurdles (48.6).
In the girls’ portion of the meet, Ozaukee took third with 44.5 points.
St. Mary’s Springs won with 132.5 points, and Random Lake was second with 123.
Ozaukee was led by second-place finishes from Sarah Brown in the 400 dash (1:07.6) and 800 run (2:43.1), Bailey Johnson in the long jump (13-3-1/2) and the 1,600 relay team of Brown, Johnson, Aman Gill and Natalie Clark (4:42).
Johnson took third in the 100 dash (14.0), as did Gill in the 300 hurdles (55.0).
The Warriors’ next outing will be the Central Lakeshore Conference outdoor meet May 16 at Howards Grove.
