The Cedar Grove-Belgium girls’ basketball team ended up on top in a seesaw road game Monday night.
Fueled by a late rally, the Rockets pulled out a 48-41 nonconference win over Saint Mary’s Springs in Fond du Lac.
After grabbing a 19-12 lead in the first quarter, Cedar Grove-Belgium found itself trailing, 24-23, at intermission. The teams were deadlocked at 33-33 before the Rockets went on a 15-8 run in the final period.
Senior Abi von Heimburg led the winners with a game-high 23 points. The Rockets also got 11 points from guard Alyssa Sauer, who had a trio of three-point baskets.
The win improved Cedar Grove-Belgium’s season record to 15-6.
Saint Mary’s Springs (7-14) was led by Catherine Richardson with 15 points.
Brillion 62, Ozaukee 24
The Warriors trailed, 22-2, after one quarter and never recovered in a nonconference road loss Monday.
Brillion stretched its advantage to 35-11 by halftime and led, 50-17, after three periods.
Ashley Kesselring led Ozaukee (7-14) with seven points.
