Members of the Town of Saukville Plan Commission had nothing but praise last week for plans to relocate a pair of century-old farm buildings to a property on Highway Y.

The commission unanimously approved the site plan presented by Scott Sieckman and Mathias Kastell that calls for the reconstruction of a 2,000-square-foot barn and a 564-square-foot granary at 3844 Hwy. Y.

The farm buildings are being moved from the Town of Jackson, and are said to date to 1862.

The project is expected to cost about $60,000.

After visiting the site, the town’s building inspector said there would be no problem meeting setback restrictions on the 110-acre property.

Town Chairman Barb Jobs joked about the painstaking process of reassembling the historic structures on their new site.

“I hope all of the pieces are properly numbered,” Jobs said.
