O’Neil’s retirement Aug. 3 will end long career as valued resource for farmers, 4-H and Master Gardeners

Ozaukee County Agricultural Agent Dan O’Neil is retiring effective Aug. 3, the day after the 2015 county fair wraps up.

O’Neil, who has been with the county since July 1, 1982, has been a valuable source of information for county farmers as well as a resource for activities as varied as 4-H and the Ozaukee Master Gardeners.

Ozaukee County Administrator Tom Meaux said O’Neil has been instrumental in working with the agricultural community.

“He’s done a marvelous job in assisting our farming community,” Meaux said, as well as those in surrounding areas through a four-county consortium.

    “He’s a wealth of knowledge.”

When the county began upgrading the fairgrounds, Meaux said, O’Neil played an instrumental role in the project.
