Although the spring election is still weeks away, Town of Port Washington officials are setting up special hours for in-person absentee voting.

Officials in the town expect a relatively high turnout for the April 2 election, both because the election will be held during spring break, when many families are on vacation, and because there‚Äôs a full slate of candidates for town supervisor.

Incumbents Jim Rychtik and Mike Didier are being challenged by Plan Commission member John Fieber and former commission member Terry Anewenter.

Town Chairman Jim Melichar, Clerk Jennifer Schlenvogt and Treasurer Mary Sampont are unopposed in their bids for another term.

Absentee ballots are available by mail, Schlenvogt said.

Beginning Monday, March 18, and running through 5 p.m. Friday, March 29, voters may cast their absentee ballots at the Town Hall.Daily-Press

To accommodate this, officials will be at the Town Hall from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays, March 18 and 25, and Wednesdays, March 20 and 27.

Absentee ballots may also be filled out from 5 to 8 p.m.  Thursday, March 28, and from 2 to 5 p.m. Friday, March 29.
