A 52-year-old Port Washington woman was seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash Tuesday when she swerved to avoid a deer on Highway KW in the Town of Belgium, according to the Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Department.
The woman was driving north on Highway KW at about 3:30 p.m. when she encountered the deer and swerved, causing her vehicle to roll 1-1/2 times, authorities said.
The driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the vehicle, according to the sheriff’s department.
She was flown to a hospital. In addition to the sheriff’s department, the Wisconsin State Patrol and rescue personnel from Belgium, Fredonia and Port  Washington responded.
Authorities had not yet identified the woman as of Wednesday morning.
