Port Washington resident Doug Miller will begin work Monday, Nov. 26, as the city’s new treasurer and director of finance.

Miller succeeds Mary Bley, who is retiring.

Miller, who currently works as the associate director of parish and school finance for the Milwaukee Archdiocese, was one of two finalists considered by the Common Council during a closed session Nov. 7, City Administrator Mark Grams said.

The other finalist was Mark Emanuelson, assistant finance director for the City of Mequon, Grams said.

“He seems like a good fit,” Grams said of Miller.

Miller has a good background in finance, is used to dealing with the public and has a good personality for the job, he added.

During the background check, officials were told Miller “is a good person to work with, very knowledgeable,” Grams added.

Bley, who has been the city treasurer and finance director for 18 years, announced her retirement in September. She will work with Miller until leaving office, Grams said, adding her last day has not been determined.Daily-Press
Miller will be paid $68,000 annually, Grams said.
