Former Port Washington resident Mathias J. “Matt” Bruendl Jr., 80, of West Des Moines, Iowa, died Thursday, May 20, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.

Funeral services were held May 26 at McLaren’s Chapel in West Des Moines. Burial was at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines.

Arrangements were handled through Hamilton’s Funeral Home in West Des Moines.

Longtime Port Washington resident Allan B. Haacke died of cancer Thursday, July 22, at Zilber Family Hospice in Wauwatosa. He was 66.

A memorial service for Mr. Haacke will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, July 30, at Grand Avenue United Methodist Church in Port Washington. The Rev. David Guse will officiate.

Visitation will be at the church Friday from 2 to 4 p.m.

Burial will be in Holden East Cemetery, Port Washington.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Port Washington Historical Society Fire Engine House Endowment Fund are suggested.

Former Cedar Grove resident Betty J. DeRoo died at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice in Sheboygan Falls on Sunday, July 25, of complication of a stroke. She was 66.

A funeral service for Mrs. DeRoo will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, July 29, at First Christian Reformed Church in Oostburg. The Rev. Les Kuiper will officiate.

A family service will be held at 1:15 p.m. in the church’s fellowship hall.

Visitation was to be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 28, at Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg and at the church Thursday from noon until the service.

Burial will be in Hartman Cemetery in the Town of Wilson.

A memorial fund for the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice Center has been established in Mrs. DeRoo’s name.

Longtime Saukville resident Winifred “Winnie” Post, 80, died Saturday, July 17, at her home on South Regis Street of complications from pneumonia.

A funeral Mass will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 22, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Saukville.

Father Karl Acker will officiate.

Visitation will be at the church from 11 a.m. until the Mass.

Burial will be at the parish cemetery.

Memorials to the St. Vincent de Paul Society are requested.

Arrangements are being handled by Poole Funeral Home, Port Washington.

Francis Watry, who was better known as Fanny, died of complications of a stroke Saturday, July 17, at St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan. The Random Lake man was 81.

A Mass of Christian burial was to be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 21, at Holy Rosary Parish, Holy Cross Chapel in the Town of Belgium. Fathers James Ernster and Richard Fleischman were to officiate.

Visitation was to be from 3 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the church, with a walk-through by American Legion Post 410 at 6:30 p.m.

Burial with military honors will be in St. Rose Cemetery, Fredonia.

Funeral arrangements were handled through Eernisse Funeral Home, Belgium.

Port Washington resident Betty J. Bendt, 79, died Tuesday, July 13, at Ellen’s Home in Port Washington, where she had been living for the past several months.

Funeral services were Monday, July 19, at Friedens Church. The Rev. Brandon Lemons officiated.

Burial was at Union Cemetery, Port Washington.

Memorials are requested to evangelical TV station WVCY or Channel 10/36, both in Milwaukee.

Arrangements were handled by Eernisse Funeral Home, Port Washington.
