Gerald R. Tenpenny, 72, of Cedarburg, died at Lawlis Family Hospice in Mequon on Friday, Oct. 6.
    Mr. Tenpenny was born in Port Washington on Dec. 11, 1944, to Donald and Coletta Mehring Tenpenny.
    After graduating from Port Washington High School, Mr. Tenpenny served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Hornet Aircraft Carrier during the Vietnam War.
    Upon his return to civilian life, he married Barbara Koch on Oct. 22, 1966, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lake Church and started working in the shipping department at Simplicity Manufacturing in Port Washington.
    He was a member of the Peter Wollner American Legion Post 288 in Cedarburg.
    Mr. Tenpenny is survived by his wife Barbara of Cedarburg; son Tracy (Clare) of Cedarburg; grandchildren Joseph and Lorraine; sister Jeannie (Terry) Bradley of Fresno, Calif.; sister-in-law Carol (Dennis) Esselmann of Grafton; and brother-in-law James (Connie) Koch of Missouri.
    He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings James and Lois Rosewitz and brothers-in-law Daniel Koch, Donald Rosewitz and Bobby Koch; and sister-in-law Delores Tenpenny.
    A funeral with military honors will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 12, at St. Francis Borgia Church-North in Cedarburg. Visitation will be at the church Thursday from 9 a.m. until the service.
    There will be a reception following the Mass at the Peter Wollner American Legion Post in Cedarburg.
    Interment will be at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
    In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight or Peter Wollner American Legion Post 288 Auxiliary are appreciated.
    Eernisse Funeral Home, Michael Schramka associate, is handling the arrangements.
