Donald C. Allwardt, 84, of Port Washington died Wednesday, Sept. 6, at the Harbor Club assisted living center in Port Washington.
    Mr. Allwardt was born on Nov. 23, 1932, in Waldo to Leon and Betty Craig Allwardt. He graduated from Waldo High School and on April 24, 1954, he married Gladys Kramer at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Plymouth.
    Mr. Allwardt worked at Simplicity Manufacturing Co. After retirement, he worked part time at the Ozaukee County Justice Center for nine years.
    Mr. Allwardt was an avid walker, bicyclist and gardener. He took great pride in the many trees and shrubs he planted throughout his yard. He also enjoyed the frequent conversations with his McDonald’s coffee group. Mr. Allwardt and his wife shared many memories of boating and snowmobiling at their mobile home in Shawano.
    Mr. Allwardt is survived by his wife Gladys; children Linda Allwardt of Rhinelander and Steve of Port Washington; granddaughter Alison (Patrick Treleven) Stefonek of Blanchardville; sister Jeanie Pflager of Plymouth; and brother Daniel (Johnella) of Chicago.
    He was preceded in death by his brothers Robert, John, and James; and brother-in-law Bill Pflager.
    A memorial service for Mr. Allwardt was held Monday, Sept. 11, at Wittkopp Funeral Home with Rev. Russell Hurst officiating. Inurnment took place in Waldo Cemetery.
    A memorial fund has been established in Mr. Allwardt’s name for the Alzheimer’s Association.
    Wittkopp Funeral in Plymouth handled the arrangements.
