Robert C. Uecker of Grafton used to race his No. 9 car every week at the Slinger Speedway.
“We used to look forward to watching him race and help him fix up his car,” his daughter Becky Policht said.
Years ago, he wrestled Viktor the Bear at the Milwaukee Sports Show and said “it was like hitting a rock,” his family recalled.
Mr. Uecker, 71, died Friday, Aug. 4, at Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital Ozaukee in Mequon.
He was born in Milwaukee on Feb. 11, 1946, the son of Ray and Claudia Mumaw Uecker.
Mr. Uecker was a General Motors master technician and an ASE certified welder.
He also drove tractor-trailers and enjoyed fishing.
Mr. Uecker is survived by his children Becky (John) Policht of New Berlin, John of Madison, Robin Uecker of Ohio and Jackie (Jordan) Rieder of Waco, Texas; six grandchildren; and brother Reynold (Evelyn) Uecker of Germantown.
He was preceded in death by grandson Mitch Policht.
A private family service will take place at a later date.
Mueller Funeral Home, Cedarburg, is handling the arrangements.
