Monica A. Schulz of West Bend enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

“She loved visiting her cottage up north, traveling, golfing and fishing with her grandkids,” her son Dale Schulz said.

Mrs. Schulz, 79, died of complications from Alzheimer’s on Saturday, April 8, at Ivy Manor, West Bend.

 She was born on Nov. 10, 1937 to Jacob and Margaret Lesch Watry in Dacada. 

Mrs. Schulz attended Port Washington High School and later Alverno College.

On Feb. 1, 1958, she married James A. Schulz of Random Lake. The couple owned and operated Schulz Realty and Schulz Homes.

She was the first woman president of the Washington County Board of Realtors. She was also a member and president of the Lion’s Club of West Bend. 

Mrs. Schulz is survived by her husband Jim, children Lynn (Bob) Ward of Middleton, Kay (Jim) Beilke of Monona Grove, Dale (Fran), Karen (Jim) Lutz, Brian (Laura) all of West Bend, daughter-in-law Suzanne Propoggio of Scottsdale, Ariz., grandchildren Heidi (Joe) Spingola, Kristina (Matt) Buettner, James and Kimberli Ward, Joclyn (Ben) Anderson, Joe (Katelyn) Lutz and Megan Lutz, Allen, Jason and Elizabeth Beilke, Zachary and Jacob Schulz, Hannah and Hayley Schulz, and three great-grandchildren. 

She is further survived by siblings Dolores Tock, Rosemary Pozy, Mildred (John) Lanser, Catherine Kearn, Ginny (Richard) Junge, Susie (Tim) Newman, and siblings-in-law Doris Watry, Carol Watry and Ervin Karrels.

Mrs. Schulz is preceded in death by her parents, son Dean, grandson Joshua, and siblings Agnes Egerer, Eugene, Richard, Robert, Walter, Ralph, Elaine Karrels, Janice Phillips and Janet Hogan.

A funeral service will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, April 17, at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel of West Bend with Chaplain Ron Schneider presiding. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday, April 17 from 3 p.m. until time of the service. Internment will take place at Washington County Memorial Park. 

Memorials are suggested to the Juvenile Arthritis Foundation (10427 W. Lincoln Ave., West Allis, WI 53227). 

Arrangements are being handled by The Phillip Funeral Home of West Bend.
