Mark Paulbicke of Fredonia made many friends when he served in the U.S. Army.
“He had friends all over the world, from Europe to America, and they’re sad to learn he’s gone,” his brother-in-law Heinz Gutmair said.
Mr. Paulbicke, 68, died Friday, April 7, from esophageal cancer at Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital in Mequon.
He was born on May 17, 1948, to Herman and Rose Chojnaski Paulbicke in Milwaukee. He graduated from Messmer High School in 1965.
From 1968 to 1971, he served in the U.S. army. He then worked as a service manager for National Spring, Inc. in Milwaukee until his retirement.
Mr. Paulbicke was a member of Warren Kane American Legion Post in Fredonia and the Waubeka Flag Day VFW Post 7037.
He is survived by his sister Karen (Heinz) Gutmair of Egan, Minn.
Mr. Paulbicke is preceded in death by his parents.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 18, from 5 to 6 p.m. at Divine Savior Parish, St. Rose Chapel in Fredonia, followed by a celebration of life prayer service at 6 p.m.
Burial with full military honors will take place at Fort Snelling, Minn.
Arrangements are being handled by Eernisse Funeral Home, Port Washington.
