Former Port Washington resident Dolores M. Kopacz, who even in her 80s was an avid walker, died Saturday, Aug. 18, at Campbell County Memorial Hospital in Gillette, Wyo. She was 82.

Mrs. Kopacz lived an active life until Dec. 19, 2011, when she was hit by a drunken driver while walking near her home in Port. After spending months in a hospital and rehabilitation center, she was diagnosed with cancer, to which she succumbed, her brother-in-law John Kopacz said.

A memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 24, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Port Washington.

Her ashes will be interred in Holy Cross Cemetery in Milwaukee following the Mass.

Family members have suggested memorials to the church, although they noted Mrs. Kopacz liked flowers.

Schramka-Densow Funeral Home in Thiensville is handling the arrangements.
