Funeral services were to be held Wednesday, Oct. 19, for longtime area teacher Helen R. Maechtle, 97, who died Sunday, Oct. 16, at Harbor Club in Port Washington, where she lived for the past year and a half.

Funeral services were held at Grand Avenue United Methodist Church. The Rev. David Guse officiated.

Burial was at Union Cemetery in Port Washington.

Memorials to the church are requested.

Arrangements were handled by Eernisse Funeral Home, Port Washington.
