TJMS business tours

As part of the Community Career Connections pilot program at Thomas Jefferson Middle School in Port Washington, which gives middle-schoolers an idea of career opportunities in their communities, students in technology-education and business classes toured businesses in the Boerner Mercantile Building in downtown Port Washington on Monday, March 5. At Kuttner, an engineering consulting firm, President Robert Fechner spoke with students. At Lake Financial Group (top right photo), Brian Barber (back left) and Justin Behm, managing partners, talked with students about career opportunities in the financial consulting industry. From there, students went to Daily Baking Co., where General Manager Carrie Ehrlich explained the ins and out of running a bakery. Student transportation for the tours, which include other Port and Saukville businesses, is paid for with a grant from the Ozaukee County Area Retired Educators’ Association.                                                            Photos by Sam Arendt
