Star-spangled celebration in Grafton

There was no mistaking the three most popular colors of day when Grafton held its annual Fourth of July celebration last weekend. Grillin’ in Grafton — a family-styled event featuring live music, children’s activities, a fireworks show and other attractions — drew large crowds to Centennial Park on Friday and Saturday. Festivities on Saturday began with an Independence Day parade that included an appearance by members of the University of Wisconsin Marching Band (top photo). The Arndt brothers — Conner, 4, and Weston, 2 — paid close attention to the parade as it passed their curbside viewing spot. At left, Brianna Awe, 8, and her sister Kendall, 5, had a good way to keep cool as they watched the procession. Below, Grafton High School football players kept tight grips on their work as they carried a large American flag along the parade route. Photos by Sam Arendt
