Senior meals back at fire station in Fredonia

Ozaukee Press Staff

After St. John’s Evangelical Church in Fredonia served as the senior meal site for several months this summer, meals are back to being served at the Fredonia Fire Station every Tuesday.

That will continue through next year, according to a contract with the county recently approved by the Fredonia Village Board.

The meal site, which is operated by the Ozaukee County Aging and Disability Resource Center, was moved to St. John’s while the fire station was remodeled. It moved back to the fire station in August when renovations were completed.

The ADRC will pay the village $3 for each day the station is in use as a meal site, according to the agreement approved by the Village Board.

Meals are served at the site at noon each Tuesday. Meals also are delivered to homes. Meals are not served at any county meal sites on Nov. 28 and 29, Dec. 24 and 25, Dec. 31, Jan. 1, Good Friday, Memorial Day, July 4 and Labor Day.

The county operates seven meal sites. Meals are served Tuesdays in Fredonia, Wednesdays in Belgium, Thursdays in Saukville and each weekday in Cedarburg, Grafton, Mequon and Port Washington.
