Port Washington Lions hold fish derby

Entries in the Port Washington Lions Club Fish Derby reached a three-year high with more than 150 fish registered this year. Ron Werner of Grafton, who had the winning coho salmon of 11.1 pounds, won the grand prize of $1,057, which was 80% of the $25 entry tickets. His ticket was randomly chosen from the five category winners. Standing in front of the fish-cleaning station with their fish were (from left): Bruce Zurmond, Oostburg, brown trout, 20.6 pounds; Dan Kropidlowski, Cedarburg, chinook salmon, 31.7 pounds (nearly a tournament record); John Hanson, South Milwaukee, lake trout, 13.2 pounds; Jayden Weavers, Oostburg, rainbow trout, 14.1 pounds; and Werner. The other four winners each received $264.50. Second-place winners in each category received $120.80 and third place received $60.40.                                         Photo by Mitch Maersch
