Port students score well in ‘Democracy’ contest

Port Washington High School juniors Kelly Ball and Noah Reinders were recently honored for finishing first and second, respectively, in the Voice of Democracy essay contest sponsored by local American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars posts.Gathering for a photo at the high school were (from left) Diane Burkhalter, president of Van Ells-Schanen American Legion Post 82 Auxiliary; Kelly’s mother, Janet Ball; Kelly Ball; Port Washington VFW Post 5373 Commander Craig Heatwole; Port High teacher Joe Adamak; Noah Reinders; and Port High Principal Eric Burke.
