Port alumni shining at St. Norbert College

A couple of Port Washington High School alumni are excelling in athletics at St. Norbert College in De Pere.

Sophomore Dominic DeMaria was named Midwest Conference Defensive Performer of the Week twice this season in soccer.

On Oct. 29, DeMaria, a midfielder, was honored for leading a defense that allowed five shots in two victories the week before. He scored a goal in a 7-1 win over Beloit and had two assists in a 4-0 win over Ripon.

On Oct. 1, DeMaria earned the honor for leading the team two victories while allowing just one goal. He scored once in a 4-0 victory over Monmouth College and assisted the game-winner with a corner kick in a 3-1 win over Knox College.

Senior Hanna Strohm was named Offensive Player of the Week in volleyball for three standout performances on Oct. 26 and 27.

The middle blocker played 12 sets and had 33 kills on 57 attempts with zero errors for a hitting percentage of .579.

In a 25-10, 25-11, 25-19 victory over Beloit on Oct. 26, Strohm had seven kills on 11 attempts.

In a five-set loss to Edgewood College (25-22, 18-25, 23-25, 25-16, 7-15) the next day, Strohm went 14-for-24 hitting.

Later on Oct. 27 in a 21-25, 25-16, 25-20, 25-23 win over Lakeland, Strohm went 12-for-22 hitting and added nine blocks.
