Poetry reading on Feb. 3, workshops set in Port

A poetry reading in conjunction with the exhibit “Responding, A Conversation in Color” will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 3, at Gallery 224 in Port Washington.

The reading will feature works by Beth Bretl, Jordan Dunn, Annie Grizzle, Jenny Gropp, Sam Pekarske, Oody Petty, Karl Pradel, Bethany Price, Laura Solomon and Tad Phippen Wente.

Martha Coaty, Erica Huntzinger and Angela Pierro will also participate in what is being called a “conversation in color.”

Other upcoming events at the gallery include poetry workshops from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturdays through Feb. 23.

The Feb. 9 session will be led by Price, who will work to bring out the poet within everyone, while Pekarske will lead the Feb. 16 session that will explore the boundaries of poetry beyond the page.

On Feb. 23, Gropp and Solomon will help writers understand how to draw from language they aren’t comfortable with and tap into a deeper, more imaginative realm in their writing.

The exhibit will clsoe with a reception and artists’ talk from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 2.

Gallery 224 is at 224 E. Main St.
