PHOTO OP ED: Miss Nora meets Miss Columbia

Joe Hicks was proud to introduce his 14-month-old granddaughter Nora Reistad to Miss Columbia in the Ozaukee County Courthouse. After all, it was Joe, the county’s maintenance supervisor, who 20 years ago uncovered murals hidden behind ceiling tiles in the County Board room, a discovery that led to an extensive restoration of the more than century-old building. Among the restored murals is the image of Miss Columbia, a symbol of American liberty. The gorgeous ceiling art was shown off to the public in an open house on April 13. Nora seemed delighted to be there.
