A patriotic prizewinner

Jennacy Wille, a seventh-grader at St. John XXIII Catholic School in Port Washington, was the winner of the annual National Flag Day Foundation essay contest.

Wille, whose essay was one of more than 500 in this year’s competition, recently received a $250 check and a flag that once flew over the U.S. Capitol from Pam Schlenvogt of the Flag Day Foundation.

Her essay was printed on the back of the program for the Flag Day program in Waubeka this year.
