Park and Rec rolls out summer programs

The Grafton Parks and Recreation Department is offering a number of activities for village residents this month.

On June 15, there will be a Flick ’n Float at the Grafton Family Aquatic Center. The Disney movie “Moana” will be shown on a large screen beginning at 8 p.m. Families may bring an inflatable raft to watch the film from the pool or sit by the deck. Admission is $3 or free if residents have a seasonal pool pass.

From June 12 through Aug. 9, instructor Jan Hill will offer aqua dynamic classes at the Grafton Family Aquatic Center every Tuesday and Thursday from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. There will be no classes on July 3 and 5 because of the Fourth of July holiday. The fee is $51 for village residents and $62 for non-residents. 

On June 19, the American Red Cross will offer a babysitter training course from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Grafton Multipurpose Senior Center. The class is for children ages 11 and older and the cost is $103. 

From June 26 through July 26, a youth diving camp will be offered to youngsters ages 7 to 17 at the Grafton Family Aquatic Center on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. The program will be coached by Jeremy Theis, who will teach participants how to dive properly and safely while challenging members to advance their skills. There will be no classes on July 3 and 5. The cost is $41 for village residents and $67 for non-residents.

On June 26, a children’s cooking class will be held at the Grafton Multipurpose Senior Center from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Mark Slaminski will teach children ages 12 to 17 the basics of cooking safety. Youngsters will learn how to make a breakfast casserole, scrambled eggs and fruit smoothies. The fee is $15 for village residents and $20 for non-residents.
