OED offers tips for video conferencing

Ozaukee Economic Development is offering video conferencing tips for people who are working remotely during the coronavirus outbreak.

In the agency’s most recent blog post, OED Marketing and Education Coordinator Lorli Woitas explores the ways video conferencing allows people to meet and collaborate from different locations through computers, smartphones and tablets that are connected to the internet.

Video conferencing is a valuable tool for businesses, students and groups who want to stay connected while social distancing.

While the Covid-19 pandemic has a sizeable portion of the workforce working from home, video conferencing is demonstrating how useful it can be with keeping business operations, students and groups moving during these unusual times.

Woitas said video conferencing has become trendy in recent years because the software is simple and inexpensive, making it available to businesses of all sizes, whereas before it was used primarily by large corporations to save on travel costs.

When considering what type of video conferencing software to use, businesses should consider the cost, ease of use, reputation and features the program provides, Woitas said.

Some examples of video conferencing options include Zoom, Google Meet, Skype and Cisco Webex Meetings.

Woitas said it is important to be well versed in the security settings of whichever video platform used.
