Former Newburg president Bill Sackett has been appointed to fill a vacancy on the Village Board.

Sackett has served the village in various capacities for more than 40 years, Village Clerk Deanna Alexander said. He was voted in on a voice vote by trustees.

Sackett replaces Chris Stangel, who resigned from the board last month, saying the trustee’s job is too time consuming. Stangel was appointed this spring to fill the seat vacated by Rena Chesak after she was elected president in April.

Sackett’s seat will be up for election in April 2020.

Trustees are paid $1,450 a year.

The Village Board also appointed Nate Wendelborn as its public works superintendent. Wendelborn previously worked in the West Bend Public Works Department and owns a landscaping business.
