The Port Washington High School boys’ tennis team is on a roll.

The Pirates are winners of seven consecutive dual meet, including all three at a Waupun invite last Saturday.

Port beat Kewaskum and Ripon, each by a score of 4-3, and Waupun, 5-2.

That was after beating rival Grafton last Thursday and winning three meets before that.

“All three doubles teams were able to stick to their strengths and stay within each point to rattle their opponents with placement this weekend. Their net game and serves were consistent throughout the weekend,” coach Melonie Zielinski said.

“Our singles players have learned to continue to stay in the point and that placement and pace are essential to win close matches.”

Against Waupun, Sam Kopp at No. 3 singles and Jakub Micha at No. 4 each won in straight sets.

All three doubles teams won, consisting of the No. 1 team of Thomas Garant and Neil Schlessinger, No. 2 Shane McConahy and Skylar Shafer and No. 3 Bryce Bertler and Cale Theis.

Against Ripon, Carson Roller won at No. 2 singles, and the doubles teams all won in straight sets.

Against Kewaskum, Michu at No. 4 singles beat Ben Read, 6-4, 4-6, 13-11.

Garant and Schlessinger beat Bret Fahrenkrug and Isaiah Cochran, 7-5, 3-6, 12-10. The other two doubles teams won in straight sets.

Against Grafton, the Pirates won their top two singles matches and the No. 2 and 3 doubles matches.

Welton beat Kyle Bauman, 6-1, 6-1; Roller beat Mike Willms, 7-5, 6-7 (4), 6-2.

Shafer and Tanner Sauer beat Joe Lacher and Grant Hesselink, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 2 doubles. At No. 3, Bertler and Theis beat Evan Kloss and Ben Anclaux, 6-1, 6-1.

For Grafton, Josh Brown beat Kopp, 6-3, 6-1, at No. 3 singles. Shantanu Chaudhuri beat Michu at No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-1.

Carter Day and Trevor Bodart beat Garant and Schlessinger, 6-4, 5-7, 6-0.

On May 7, Port beat Milwaukee King, 5-2. Roller, Michu and the doubles teams won in straight sets.
