Nancy Jane Keller


Nancy Jane Keller, 82, died Tuesday morning, July 9, at her residence in Newberry, Mich.

She was born Dec. 2, 1935, in Nahma, Mich., daughter of the late Edmund and Irene (Moses) Peaine.

Nancy resided in Port Washington and was employed at St. Alphonsus Hospital as an instrument technician.

Later in life she continued employment at Grafton Woolen Mills and Sprague Electric, both in Grafton, for several years.

A resident of Newberry since 2004, Nancy was a member and elder of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians.

Nancy enjoyed craftwork, making dreamcatchers, sewing and word and video games.

In addition to her parents, Nancy is preceded in death by her son David Keller and siblings Isaac, Leonard and Angeline.

Survivors include her children Dale of Newberry, Mich., and Susan Altendorf of Saukville; grandchildren Cianna Zukaitis, Kayla (Matthew) Ewig, Jason Altendorf and Amber Schmidt; great-grandchildren Bryson and Madison Massie and Aiden, Brooklyn, Cameron and Peyton Schmidt.

Per her request, cremation services were accorded.

Interment will take place on the family cemetery lot in Nahma, Mich., at a later date.
