Mother Nature joins Splash Pad Sunday

Water came from below and above last Sunday at the Village of Belgium’s first Splash Pad Sunday of the summer. The Luxembourg American Cultural Society offered free admission in honor of National Day in Luxembourg, let children paint Peckvillerchers — Luxembourgish bird whistles — and had a dress-up area of traditional Luxembourgish clothing. Children played water balloon games, played with bubbles in the bubble pool and decorated themselves with glitter tattoos. Port Washington State Bank offered free ice cream, enjoyed by Kaitlynn Noster, 8, and Keegan Noster, 5. The food truck Cupcake-a-Rhee offered cupcakes for purchase. The next Splash Pad is 2-5 p.m. Sunday, July 28, and features a dunk tank. Photos by Sam Arendt
