Meat raffles to support community events in Saukville

Meat lovers and supporters of local charities will have their pick of events on Saturday, March 30, when two Saukville organizations each hold a meat raffle.

The Saukville Community Food Pantry will hold its annual meat raffle from 2 to 5 p.m. at D’Klein bar on the Triangle.

Later in the day and just a few blocks west at the Railroad Station tavern, the Saukville Lions Club will hold its Annual Spring Fling Meat Madness from 7 to 11 p.m.

Meats to be raffled at the food pantry will be donated by Bernie’s Meats in Port Washington and Blau’s Saukville Meats and include pork loins, boneless prime rib, thick-sliced bacon, beef tenderloin, smoked turkey, brats, hamburger patties, pork chops, steaks and more.

Also to be raffled at the food pantry event are wine and cheese baskets and a Brewers tail-gate package, game tickets not included.

Raffle tickets will be available on the day of the event. No advanced sales are available and you must be present to win.

The meat raffle benefits the Saukville Community Food Pantry, which opened in 2012 and served 23 families that first year. Today, it serves 80 families per month.

The pantry, which is housed in the lower level of Parkside Community United Church of Christ, also provides a free community meal twice a month, holiday meal boxes, a mobile food pantry and a school supply program.

Besides meats to be raffled, the Lions Club event will feature free admission, door prizes, a 50-50 raffle and music with DJ Dan The Party Rocker.

Money raised goes to scholarships and other community projects supported by the Lions Club.
