Little library, Tree City USA application are on the docket for Park and Rec Committee Thursday

The Parks, Recreation and Forestry Committee on Thursday, Aug. 2, will follow up its discussion on becoming a Tree City USA after bringing up the idea at its May 31 meeting.

Earning such a title requires municipalities to plant a tree during Arbor Day observations and spending $2 per resident on forestry care, which translates to $4,500 for Belgium. The committee and officials determined the village already spends that but doesn’t track it.

Also on the agenda is a request from a resident to discuss opening a little library.

The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. at Village Hall, 104 Peter Thein Ave.
