LETTER: Democrats are conservatives in effort to save American values

To Ozaukee Press:
I am writing this as a liberal/conservative. That may sound strange but I believe that, as a Democrat, we need to conserve the American values outlined in our Constitution. I believe that is the mission of the Democratic Party as well.
This summer I had the opportunity to walk in three parades with the Ozaukee County Democrats. Our parade in Port Washington had more than 100 people walking with us. Many parade watchers clapped and thanked us. I even received a few hugs along the route. There were a
few folks who booed, but there were far more cheers than jeers.
There are some issues that are not left vs. right, but right vs. wrong. We all strongly agree that Wisconsin’s election system needs to be protected so that it is
never hacked again. We all believe that health care in this state needs to be
more affordable. We all believe that people who work should receive a living wage. And we all want our children to have a better quality of life than ours.
This year, the Democrats in Ozaukee County have very qualified candidates
running for the Assembly. Andy Lamb (former CFO of Ozaukee County) and Liz Sumner (small business owner) are running in the Democratic primary in District 23. Emily Seigrist (National Guard veteran and nurse practitioner) is running in District 24, and Chris Rahlf (a Navy vet who has one son who just returned from a tour in Afghanistan and another in the Wisconsin National Guard) running in District 60. The Democrats also have a great
Congressional candidate, Mequon resident Dan Kohl.
    All of these candidates have
strong progressive platforms, and it is great to see that our county’s Assembly seats are not going unchallenged.
As a resident of Ozaukee County formore than 40 years, I know we have
a good life here, but we can make it better. What can we do to preserve the quality of our public universities and K-12 schools? What can we do to help our kids and grandkids with the high cost of
student debt? What can we do to protect our kids and grandkids from the
non-conservative tariffs, non-conservative deficit blowouts and nonconservative bailouts we are seeing from the Republicans?         What you can do is join me as a liberal/conservative, and vote for Democrats this election.
