LETTER: City and Hales owners should share cost of multiple use trail

I read the editorial in last week’s Ozaukee Press, “A better way for walkways,” and I concur with the Press: Sidewalks and bike trails, like public roads, should be paid for with city funds. That is the case here in Punta Gorda, Fla., my winter home, except in the case of new subdivisions.

The City of Punta Gorda is contemplating increased use of multiple use recreational trails (MURT). These are 6 to 12 feet wide and constructed of asphalt, which is much less expensive than concrete and can be tinted to a color compatible with adjacent grass or pavement.
