This year’s 10th annual Ladies Night Out, with the theme “Get Your Smile On,” will take place from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7.

The Grafton Area Chamber of Commerce expects about 500 ladies to be out and about in downtown Grafton with 50 to 70 businesses participating with freebies to give away.

“There’s going to be fun on every corner,” Chamber Executive Director Pam King said.

The evening will have live music from local musicians, including Grafton High School’s Jazz Ensemble, along with shopping, a selfie booth, food and raffles.

The duo band Smile will perform on the main stage in the Paramount Plaza starting at 7 p.m., and there will be tasty desserts for women to enjoy.

For the third year in a row, there will be a clothing swap in which ladies may bring up to five accessories to be traded. The remaining items will be donated to Family Sharing of Ozaukee County.

“We saw it as a win for everybody,” King said. “Every year, part of our mission is to find a way to give back through this event.”

King said this year’s event will feature more food on the go, which will include popcorn, pretzel bites and mini-doughnuts.

“As the women are walking around there will be a bunch of food and beverages available to them at different locations,” she said.

The first 500 ladies are guaranteed a tote bag, which will include a fan, lip balm and other goodies. Women will receive a punch card and, if they visit 10 businesses, may enter a drawing for themed baskets sponsored by Meijer.

King said the ultimate goal of Ladies Night Out is to expose women to more area businesses.

“While the women who come aren’t necessarily buying things that night, the vendors have seen, in the past, women coming back to their stores,” King said. “More often than not, women with families choose the goods and services for their homes.”

Port Washington State Bank is the presenting sponsor, along with Partnership Bank sponsoring food on the go and accessory swap, and Cornerstone Bank is sponsoring the deserts in the Paramount Plaza.

Ladies may pre-register for $10 each at www.grafton-wi.org. Registration at the event will be on the corner of Bridge Street and 12th Avenue for $15.

“Studies show that when you smile there’s less stress and you live longer,” King said. “When we think of Ladies Night Out, we automatically smile and so we want the ladies to get their smile on.”
